Blogmas Day 22: Edinburgh at Christmas

Hello people of the Blogosphere!

Today I’m taking you on a little tour of Edinburgh at Christmas from the comfort of my sofa.

Edinburgh is a truly wonderful place to be at Christmas. After all, you wouldn’t expect the country whose national animal is a unicorn to do things by halves.

There is something festive around every corner in Edinburgh. In some cases it’s a giant snow globe made of fairy lights, because why not?

And mere feet away you’ll find a drop tower that I had to walk halfway down George Street to capture in all its glory because it’s that high.

And of course there’s the German market if you feel like punching a tourist. They have rides, booze, food; sooooooo much food.

It even somehow manages to enhance the silhouette of Edinburgh Castle; I mean check out that sexy skyline.

Even the Princes Street tram stop looks beautiful in all its wintery glory!

And if you’re in the mood for some Christmassy junk food you can pop into the Grosvenor for chips topped with stuffing and pigs in blankets. It even comes with its own teeny jug of gravy!

There are weird and wonderful surprises everywhere and anywhere in Edinburgh at any time of year but it gets ten times more extreme in Winter.

Whether it’s watching people face plant on the ice rink in St Andrews Square or entering subzero conditions to see the ice sculptures on George street, you’ll never be short of things to do in this wacky city.

Also keep an eye out for the unicorns that are snuck into much of the art and architecture in the city. Like I said; weird and wonderful.

Happy Forefathers Day! To celebrate, let’s try and be a lot less into slavery than they were.
