What’s in my Makeup Bag?

Hello guys and dolls! Long time no blog post! I had a wee break from writing; work has been pretty hectic due to the snow and truth be told, after Blogmas I just needed a little holiday from writing, but I am back, rested and raring to go!

Today I thought I’d write about what my makeup bag essentials are.

The perfect palate cleanser after going for my train yesterday, then being told the train line has been blocked since Wednesday and that there was no replacement, and after about an hour of running around Edinburgh trying to find another route, having to spend an hour and a half on a freezing bus that still ended up an hour and 45 minutes away from where I wanted to be.

But I’m home now and in front of a roaring fire so let’s get started!

Now as someone with combination skin I use the Clean & Clear Dual Action Oil-Free Moisturiser before my makeup; it’s cheap and creates a smooth base to apply my foundation to.

This next two products are a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way and they last a long time; the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation and the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I swear by them and if you put them on with my next item, you can apply it in seconds, perfect if you have early shifts like me.

Beauty blenders are a godsend. I would suggest not buying a super expensive one or a super cheap one, find a nice middle ground; the expensive ones aren’t worth it, and the cheap ones disintegrate in your hand. My favourite is the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

I also like a good powder to set my foundation, especially since I have oily skin. I love the MAC Blot Powder because it doesn’t change the colour of your foundation it just sets it.

On top of this I love to use Benefit’s Hoola Lite because I am deathly pale and this adds some colour without making me orange.

Then I add a little bit of highlighter to my nose, cheekbones and cupid’s bow. Some people swear by expensive highlighters but I actually really like the Makeup Academy Undress Your Skin and it’s only £3.00.

Another expensive product; I love NARS Orgasm Blush but I think next time I’ll go for a matte blush.

I also use the Micro Brow Pencil by NYX for my eyebrows, another cheap and cheerful product.

Then I use my Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette in the shade Low Blow or Sauced just below my waterline to add some depth and colour.

Then I use Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara and some eyelash curlers that I must have had for at least five years to lengthen and darken my eyelashes.

And of course my MAC Whirl Lipstick!

Then last but not least I use my Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray to make it last.

And that is my makeup bag/routine! Keep in mind that I quite often do this at five in the morning before my six o’clock shift so I deserve a medal!

Happy National Grammar day! I hope you take as much pleasure in it as I do!
